Our Review Process

Last updated:

Our editorial policy describes the principles behind our content. This page is the more concrete version: the actual checklist the MyITINCredit editorial team runs through before a page goes live, and again on a recurring basis afterward.

Before a new page is published

  1. Source check. Every factual claim about credit scores, credit reports, or ITIN rules is traced to a primary source — IRS.gov, ConsumerFinance.gov, FTC.gov, or the official documentation of Equifax, Experian, TransUnion, or VantageScore — before it's written into a draft.
  2. Product-fact check. Any statement about the specific monitoring product we link to (trial length, price, what's included, cancellation terms) is checked directly against MyFreeScoreNow's current published terms, not carried over from an older page by assumption.
  3. Disclosure check. Pages that link to an affiliate partner include the affiliate disclosure component near the first call to action, consistent with FTC guidance on clear and conspicuous disclosure.
  4. Plain-language pass. We rewrite technical or legal phrasing for readability without deleting material qualifiers (fees, eligibility limits, "may," "in most cases").
  5. Dates and schema. Every page gets a visible "Last updated" date and a matching machine-readable modified-date in its metadata, so the two can never silently drift apart.
  6. Accessibility pass. Headings are structured logically, links describe their destination, and citation lists use accessible markup — the same pattern used across the site's sources blocks.

What triggers an off-cycle review

Who performs the review

Reviews are performed by the MyITINCredit editorial team on behalf of Simply Approved Corporation, the site's operator. We describe it this way — an organizational team rather than a named individual — because that is what accurately reflects our current process. See our editorial policy for the conditions under which we would name a specific, verified individual reviewer in the future.

What we don't do

We don't publish "reviewed by [Name], CFPĀ®" bylines for a credential we can't verify, we don't backdate a "last updated" stamp without actually re-checking the content, and we don't let a scheduled review slip past its cadence without a documented reason (for example, a partner delay in confirming updated terms).

Questions about this process
